Mike Lockridge joined Appalachian State University’s Department of Government and Justice Studies in 2024. Mike earned his B.S. in Criminal Justice and M.P.A. from Appalachian State University. He received his Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law. Prior to attending law school, Mike worked as a correctional case analyst at two NC prisons and as a probation officer. Mike has 28 years of combined military experience in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and Army National Guard, with two tours of duty in Iraq. He last served as a Brigade Judge Advocate in the North Carolina Army National Guard.
Mike is admitted to practice law in North Carolina. From 2002 - 2024, he was employed as an attorney with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, where his practice focused on correctional law and litigation brought by persons in custody, civil commitment of sexually dangerous persons in custody, and criminal matters. Mike also represented the Bureau of Prisons in labor and employment matters.
