Senior Amanda Lopez-Grajales completed a summer internship with the Harnett County Sheriff's Office in central North Carolina. During the internship, Amanda was introduced to a wide variety of law enforcement operations, including patrol; response to domestic violence, medical emergencies, shootings, and robberies; suspect and victim interview procedure; dispatch; courts; and investigations. Amanda's final paper was based on research into the media's impact on public perceptions of law enforcement. Amanda said, "The internship gave me a substantial amount of experience, and I saw a lot of the things that go on every day in the criminal justice field. It helped me mature and develop professional skills. It was a wonderful learning experience, and I am grateful to every person at the sheriff's office."
