Tyler Magazine– Raleigh Police Department

Tyler MagazineSenior criminal justice major Tyler Magazine worked with Raleigh Police Department during his internship. In addition to many traditional intern activities, Tyler participated in ride-alongs and observed investigations, gaining practical knowledge of procedures and techniques. He also attended departmental training sessions that focused on community engagement. Tyler offered the following comments on his internship: “The Specialized Internship Program offered by the Raleigh Police Department is an excellent opportunity for individuals who aspire to become law enforcement professionals. As an intern in this program, I received comprehensive mentorship, training, and real-life exposure to different aspects of modern policing. The best part of RPD's internship program is that it is customized to fit your interests and preferences. During my internship, I was placed in the investigative division, along with other interns, while another intern worked with the ACORNS unit. There were also instances when I spent a day in Special Ops or could have gone to the chief's office. As an intern, I worked closely with detectives in various units and assisted them in cases, providing them with a unique perspective they may not have considered otherwise. My participation in this program has allowed me to gain valuable insights and skills that have prepared me well for a successful career in law enforcement."
