Course Summary: Combining an academic view of the actors and institutions in our nation’s capital with a hands-on exploration of Washington, DC, this 3 credit course will focus on the significant impact of women leaders in D.C. and the unique challenges and opportunities women in politics face. We will meet with numerous App State alumnae who have found success in D.C. and a variety of interest groups and organizations that focus on issues of significant importance to women. Potential meetings include the League of Women Voters, NARAL, National Committee on Pay Equity, National Council of Negro Women, National Latino/a Lesbian and Gay Organization, National Organization of Women, & U.S. Supreme Court.
