Travel Dates: May 13-May 29, 2018 (plus 4 required “pre-travel” course meetings)
Course Summary: This 17-day program provides students with the opportunity to study comparative crime and punishment issues with students from the University of Tampere (Finland), Marquette University (U.S.A.), Finlandia University (U.S.A.) and Sheffield Hallem University (UK) This 3-credit class will include the following and additional activities may be available: (1)Guided city tour of Tampere and Tallinn, (2)Bus transportation during excursions to prisons and to Latvia and Lithuania, (3)Ferry ride to Tallinn from Helsinki, (4)Welcoming medieval dinner in Tallinn, (5)Visit the Estonian College of Justice, (6)Guided tour of the KGB museum in Riga, (7)Prison experiences in Tampere, Tallinn, and former Soviet bunker in Vilnius, (8)Lectures and applied sessions with academicians and practitioners, (9) Cottage weekend in Haapasaari with breakfast and smoke sauna, (10)Timetravels tour conductor/guide services during the guided activities and field trips. All classes will be conducted in English.
Estimated Cost: $4667.49 (Cost of trip includes all transportation - except to/from Charlotte airport - lodging, & most cultural events/activities). Tuition cost is not included. Scholarships available through the OIED.
